90 Times More Likely To Get MRSA In UK!

Often you will hear ill informed people saying don’t go abroad for cosmetic surgery or overseas for medical treatment. Award winning and acclaimed BBC Reporter, Nicky Taylor, recently said of her cosmetic surgery in Malaysia with Body Beautiful “l think in retrospect we all can be guilty of a ‘fear of the foreign’. I hadn’t realised this before I went but ended up asking questions like "What’s the level of hygiene, do they speak English?". Now I realise that it is insulting!”

However, when you today see reports by the BBC which concluded “Hospitals 'infested with vermin”, you are drawn to the inevitable conclusion do go abroad for your cosmetic surgery or overseas for your medical treatment. The report when onto to say “The cleanliness of most NHS hospitals in England is threatened by frequent invasions of rats, fleas, bedbugs, flies and cockroaches”.

The following data has been extracted from an EARSS report covering the period 1999-2002. The data shows the proportion of Staphylococcus Aureus Bacteria (MRSA) in each country which is methicillin resistant. It does not show the incidence of MRSA infection. Country Reported - %age of MRSA in 2002

• Spain - 23.5%
• Belgium - 19.2%
• Czech Republic - 6.2%
• Netherlands - 1.0%

You will be reassured to know that, for example, at Subang Jaya Medical Centre in Malaysia, the reported %age of MRSA is just 0.5%. This is well below the International bench marking %age of 6% with CDC (Centre of Disease Control at Atlanta, US and WHO) and 90 times less than the UK %age.

Insurance for Cosmetic Surgery Overseas

When travelling abroad and overseas for medical treatment or cosmetic surgery, you need to ensure that you are adequately insured against the usual travel perils just like if you were to take a normal vacation.

HEALTH TRAVELLER has been designed by Marcus Hearn specifically for those persons travelling abroad and overseas in order to obtain either medical treatment, dental treatment or cosmetic surgery.

Although there is no cover for your medical or cosmetic reason for travel, the policy removes one of the standard exclusions in many travel insurance contracts of 'travelling for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment'.

Standard travel insurance policies will generally automatically exclude ALL cover if you are travelling to obtain medical treatment.

DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO PURCHASE A POLICY WITH THE STANDARD EXCLUSIONS AS THIS MAY LEAD TO A CLAIM BEING REJECTED.

Body Beautiful Go That Extra Mile!!

When we learnt that Stacy Donnelly was a huge fan of The Backstreet Boys, as a special treat for her, knowing the boys were in town and staying at our partner hotel, The Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel & Spa, naturally, we pulled out all the stops to grab a few words and photos with AJ McLean and Nick Carter.

The Backstreet Boys, whose hits such as "Everybody" and "As Long As You Love Me" which catapulted them into international superstardom in the '90s selling in excess of 75 million records worldwide, performed a one off concert recently on the beach of The 5 Star Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel & Spa as part of their “Unbreakable Tour”.

Stacy said “I just wanted to say thank you for everything especially The Backstreet Boys!!!!! I am doing really well and had a great time in Kuala Lumpur. I would go back tomorrow. Everyone was sooooo jealous and everyone thinks my new chest is lovely too!!”

Here you can access a selection of some of our clients before and after they had their cosmetic surgery procedures. These past clients have, very generously, permitted us to share their before and after cosmetic surgery pictures to help prospective clients make an informed choice.

The results shown within the gallery are not necessarily the results that you may obtain. Individual experiences and results of cosmetic surgery are based upon many factors and will vary from client to client. However, looking at cosmetic surgery before and after photographs is a great way to get a feel of potential results and benefits that cosmetic surgery has to offer.

Body Beautiful in Australia

Whilst we have arranged cosmetic surgery for many Australians and New Zealanders, for the first time, Body Beautiful will today be featured on Australian television. "How Young Can I Get?" on ABC2 at 9.30pm this evening in Australia is a real must if you are contemplating on having surgery in Malaysia.

Body Beautiful were the company that arranged Nicky Taylor's tummy tuck surgery from start to finish and were also interviewed during the making of the programme.

Why did you choose to have your cosmetic surgery abroad? The price – it was more economical abroad.

Why did you chose Body Beautiful to make those arrangements for you? I was very impressed by the service they offered, the knowledge and competence of the company and the expertise of the surgeons. How did you find your accommodation and the facilities at The Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel & Spa (Main Tower & Villas)? I thought the accommodation at the Main Tower was comfortable, the food great and the facilities rated highly too. The villas were ‘out of this world’ – a bit of heaven. I thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

How did you find Malaysia as a destination?So lovely that I want to return next year!

Our staff on the ground in Malaysia are very important to us, how did you find them? What can I say?! Great idea to have some English faces to meet & greet! They made me most welcome. There really are no complaints.

Would you recommend Body Beautiful and, if so, why? OF COURSE I WOULD AND AM DOING SO TO EVERYONE I MEET!! (I'd be surprised if you haven’t had a few phone calls already!)

Virtual Plastic Surgery

If you have ever wondered what you would look like with plastic surgery, now is your chance to find out.

Whether you want a new nose, an eyebrow lift or plumper lips, a new website allows you to tinker with your face without going under the knife.

Lift Magic (www.liftmagic.com) is designed to allow prospective plastic surgery patients to tailor make their own cosmetic surgery.

Users upload a photograph onto the site for free and then decide which procedures they would like.

Options include removing bags under the eyes, smoothing wrinkles and sculpting jawlines. Other enhancements include an eyebrow lift, lip augmentation and nose reduction.

Once you have chosen the work you want done, users simply click 'show result' and seconds later the new you pops up.

More than 60,000 women and an increasing number of men have cosmetic surgery in the UK each year.

The site is run by Canadian-based 'face visualisation' company Modiface.

"The main benefit is that it allows you to see a retouched version of your photo in literally seconds," said spokesman Andrew Collins.

"You can choose the options, press a single button and see the results.

"It's easy, fun and virtually effortless.

"For some procedures, such as facelifts or dermal filler injections, it can show you a relatively real result."

Whilst this is a fun and easy site to show you what can be achieved through plastic surgery, at the end of the day, they do say that the results are RELATIVELY real but above all everyone needs to be realistic with their expectations and surgical results do vary from person to person.

The Price You See Is The Price You Pay!

There are many medical tourism operators that have recently 'sprung up' trying to cash in on Britons seeking cosmetic surgery overseas. Whilst I have issued many warnings, be very careful, as the price that you may think you will have to pay may not be the amount debited from your credit card!

Many operators quote in local currency and encourage you to pay by credit card upon your arrival. This could be very costly indeed.

Using a credit card abroad can be quite costly once you take into account the hidden charges being incorporated into your transactions.

That great deal on your overseas cosmetic surgery could actually be costing you much much more than you bargained for!

Foreign usage loading

When you spend on a credit or debit card abroad the exchange rate is based on the Visa or Mastercard wholesale rate.

This is extremely competitive and a much better rate than those offered by most foreign exchange bureaux.

Unfortunately, if you read carefully the terms and conditions of your credit card, there will be a reference to 'foreign usage loading'.

This is a commission that your credit card issuer charges when you buy something abroad.

The amount varies between credit card issuers but is usually 2.75%.

So if you are cosmetic surgery package is £5000, using the credit card to pay for this overseas, could add £137.50 to the cost!

Further many medical tourism agencies will often give you a conversion rate so you roughly know the equivalent in Sterling. Please remember often the rates quoted are more more attractive than the actual Visa or Mastercard wholesale rate. This is designed solely to make the cost look lower to you.

With Body Beautiful, all packages are quoted in £Sterling and the price quoted is the price that you pay so you need not worry about exchange rates fluctuating and foreign usage loading by your credit card company.

A Job Well Done!

The most rewarding part about arranging cosmetic surgery holidays is when I receive letters of thanks and photographs some months later. It certainly makes all the hard work well worth it!

DEAR PAUL

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY HOW PLEASED MY FRIEND AND I ARE, WE HAVE JUST COME HOME AFTER HAVING A FACELIFTS AND UPPER AND LOWER EYE BAGS REMOVED.

WE CHOSE KUALA LUMPUR FOR A FEW REASONS. WE DID NOT WANT PEOPLE TO SEE US IN THE RECOVERY STAGE SO DID NOT WANT TO BE TOO NEAR TO HOME, THE PRICE OBVIOUSLY CAME INTO IT AS IT WAS MUCH CHEAPER THAN ENGLAND, BUT THE MAIN REASON WAS BECAUSE I HAD HAD CONSULTATIONS WITH TWO SURGEONS IN ENGLAND AND THEY DID NOT GIVE ME ANY CONFIDENCE, AND WHEN I READ DR. SOMA’S C.V.I WAS VERY IMPRESSED.

THE ARRANGEMENTS WITH BODY BEAUTIFUL WENT VERY WELL, WE WERE MET AT THE AIRPORT, AS STATED AND WHISKED OFF TO OUR HOTEL, THE HOTEL WAS VERY GOOD AND THE ROOM SPACIOUS AND VERY CLEAN, WITH THE LAUNDRY CHANGED EVERY DAY. THE RESTAURANT IN THE HOTEL WAS VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, AND VERY WELL ORGANISED.

THE STAFF AND PEOPLE IN MALAYSIA ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, THE WEATHER WAS VERY HUMID WITH QUITE A LOT OF CLOUD, ONLY A COUPLE OF SUNNY DAYS, THE POOL AREA AROUND THE POOL IS EXCELLENT.

NOT HAVING MET DR. SOMA BEFORE I WAS NOT SURE WHAT TO EXPECT, BUT HE GAVE ME MORE ENCOURAGEMENT,AND THE THING THAT I LIKED MORE WAS THE FACT THAT I ASKED IF HE WOULD DO LIPOSUCTION AT THE SAME TIME AS THE OTHER PROCEDURERS,AND HE SAID NO, I THOUGHT THAT BEING UNDER THE ANESTHETIC IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AS WELL TO HAVE THE LOT DONE AT ONCE BUT HE SAID THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO MUCH TO HAVE DONE AT THE SAME TIME,I THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY GOOD AS I THINK YOU EXPECT THEM TO THINK OF MONEY BUT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE.

I DID NOT KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE THINGS THAT I WAS HAVING DONE BUT I WENT TO SEE MY DOCTOR TO HAVE MY STITCHES REMOVED 2 WEEKS AFTER THE FACE LIFT AND HE AND THE NURSE WERE VERY, VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE WORK DR. SOMA HAD DONE AND WERE FULL OF PRAISE FOR HIM AND SAID THAT HE MUST BE A VERY GOOD SURGEON THEY HAD NEVER SEEN SUCH A NEAT JOB BEFORE, AND IT WAS HEALING VERY WELL, AND EXTREMELY CLEAN.

I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH BODY BEAUTIFUL AND WOULD RECOMMEND DOCTOR SOMA AS A SURGEON TO ANYONE.

BBC Three “Miss Real World” – Coming Soon! The debate show was presented by Shazia Mirza and will be incorporated within a one hour BBC special to be broadcasted on BBC3 in July. The programme is investigating how different cultures within the UK perceive beauty and how far women are prepared to go – or not – to subscribe to so-called modern ideals of beauty. I was personally asked to join a expert panel of professionals from the world of fashion and beauty including models, agents, media representatives, beauty experts and academics. I dealt with a number of topical cosmetic surgery issues during the debate show.
